A triangle formed by Charoen Krung Road, Sathon Road and Rama IV Road, Silom is Bangkok's business district where most banks, insurance companies, airline offices and international firms have their headquarters. Nontheless Silom has a nice neighborhood feel to it with lots of small restaurants and pubs. Hotels in the Silom area are generally smaller one off boutique style properties that are locally owned and managed. And although these smaller hotels may not have all the facilities of an international brand name property, they do offer value for money with guestrooms and services that are comparable to a 3-4 star hotel. That said, along South Sathon Road are some of Bangkok's most exclusive deluxe hotels; Sukothai, Metropolitan and Evergreen Laurel.
Arguably a bit less hectic than Bangkok's other neighbourhoods (however this is where the infamous Patpong Rd. is located) Silom is popular with business travelers as well as leisure visitors to tour and explore Bangkok. The BTS Skytrain serves the area but taxis will be needed to access hotels along Surawong Road. Silom will appeal to those looking for good value for money in a more relaxed environment. FYI, in order to remain objective, hotels are listed in alphabetical order. We don't favor any hotel for any reason. |
